Water Damage Leads to Mold Growth When Left Untreated

Homeowners were out of town when this water damage occurred. Unfortunately, due to nobody being in the home, the water damage went untreated for six days. During this time, water saturated the walls, flooring, and cabinets throughout the downstairs area of the home. SERVPRO of Corona was called to assess the water damage. Upon arrival, SERVPRO of Corona crew noticed there was about 2-3 inches of standing water and microbial growth on the walls. The first thing the crew did was moving contents and furniture to an unaffected area of the home in attempts to salvage them. The next step was to extract the water using a truck mount extractor. Thirdly, the homeowners' items were packed and moved into another area of the home so that cabinets and furniture could be removed. Fourth step was the removal of cabinets, drywall, and floors as they were heavily affected by the water damage. (Notice the microbial growth on the walls) The final step was mold remediation. With the help of a hygienist, the home mold spores in the home were reduced to where it is now safe to live in the home. Just a friendly reminder to have a family member, friend and or neighbor keep an eye on your home when you are out of town just in case this happens in your home!
